Electronic music is a style that consists of creating songs by using electronic musical instruments, circuitry-based music technology and digital instruments. The first electronic devices that were used to create music appeared at the end of the 19th century. After that, electronic music started to gain territory within the industry.

We have selected the best-known electronic music bands whose songs are and were listened to all over the world. However, besides the ones that we have listed below, there are many other bands and artists worth listening to.


  1. Daft Punk

Daft Punk, a two-man band, is a well-known music band that has albums that are known throughout the whole world. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo met each other in 1987 at the age of 12. When they were 17, they formed their own music band, a lo-fi indie punk that was called “Darlin’”. Then, in 2010, Daft Punk made its first public appearance at a Phoenix show.


  1. Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode is an electronic music band that was formed in 1980 in Essex. Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher are the members of this band who released great songs that were appreciated across the whole world. This band’s debut album was called “Speak & Spell” and it was launched in 1981.


  1. Massive Attack

Massive Attack made its debut in 1991 with the album “Blue Lines”. The band consists of Robert “3D” Del Naja, Andy “Mushroom” Vowels and Robert “3D” Del Naja. Massive Attack won numerous awards since their debut, including two MTV Europe Music Awards and two Q Awards.


  1. Dragonette

This Canadian electronic music band was formed in Toronto, Ontario in 2005. It consists of Martina Sorbara who is a singer and a songwriter, of her husband Dan Kurtz who is a bass player and a producer and Joel Stouffer, who is the drummer. Their debut studio album is called “Galore” and it was released in 2007.


  1. Boards of Canada

Originally being a commune of Scottish artists and musicians, consisting of three artists, they  then became a duo of electronic musicians named Boards of Canada. The band was formed in 1980 by Michael Sanderson and Marcus Eoin. There were 4 cassettes released between 1987-1993. The debut album was called “Music Has the Right to Children” and was released in 1998.
